To celebrate the arrival of spring, the ValgepeaLab group retreat took place in the culturally rich Mulgi region (Mulgimaa) in South Estonia. The team enjoyed a guided tour through the Mulgi Experience Center, followed by a workshop on Kama truffle preparation and a traditional lunch featuring Estonia’s famous Mulgi puder, which has been added to UNESCO’s list of intangible cultural heritage.

After this tasty and engaging experience, the group headed to the beautiful Wagenküll Spa for a well-deserved relaxing evening, enjoying the saunas and pools. The next day, as is already tradition, we were immersed in deep discussions during the seminar presented by our postdoc, Nilesh S. Kolhe, on scientific publishing, peer review, and the specifics of the ‘video journal’ JoVE. It was very interesting to hear the different points of view on this topic shared by our diverse scientific group. Thank you, Nilesh, for the presentation!

Afterwards, we enjoyed a delicious lunch and returned to Tartu, once more thankful to our group specialist, Karoliina Kangur, for organizing yet another wonderful retreat. As always, we can’t wait for the next one!
